Do you wake up each morning, like me, able to see, hear and speak? Do you take for granted these abilities? Sometimes we need to be reminded of how fortunate we are. I had that very opportunity when asked to photograph a fundraiser event for a wonderful organization called the “HearAid Foundation”. Their mission is “assisting those in our community who seek to achieve their fullest hearing potential but have limited resources”. I can’t say enough about the wonderful people who make this possible.
The event brought together the doctors, hearing professionals, supporters and recipients of hearing aid devices made possible by this organization, thus creating a night of heart-warming stories, donations and smiles. The theme was “Unmasked” with fun, colorful Mardi Gras masks and a ballroom decorated beautifully. The silent auction had amazing items including an electric guitar signed by The Rolling Stones and original art work created by the artist live at the event!
I left the gala that night, my camera filled with images of hope and celebration. I felt an appreciation for my ability to hear and for the people who work so hard to help those who cannot afford hearing-aid devices.
